Day 4 in New York

OK, we did not get up in time for the ferry to Liberty and Ellis Island... We got up around noon and decided to go to the Upper East Side and Central Park – the weather was lovely and we were in strolling mood. We took the subway for the first time -very easy when you compare it to the British tube and French métro!!
We went off at Lexington Ave and walked around there, the beautiful Park and 5th Ave to Central Park. And what a park!!! The colors were beautiful!!! Yellow, orange, brow and red... we took loads of pictures. Walking up to 72nd St to Strawberry Fields and the Dakota building across the street on the West side where John Lennon was shot. We walked around until the sun went down and then went back on Lexington to get Cédric some more jeans! 5 is not enough!!

Once you're inside a store the sales staff is incredible over here!!! Very helpful and friendly and you can see that they work on a commission – they make sure you are happy!! A nice change from France, where they hardly talk to you and much less smile!! After getting 2 more jeans, we got a slice of pizza (which could have been better), passed by the Chrysler building to get some shots before stopping by at the tattoo shop for Cédric's tattoo. The joint was NOT in the neighborhood, but back in East Village and we had to walk A LOT! The reception at the shop could have been warmer and I probably wouldn't recommend it to someone who came for a first tattoo, but they're known for that AND their great tattoos, so... we'll see on Monday!

On our way back through East Village there was a lot of bike riders and they seemed to be looking for trouble: first a girl got stopped by the police for not respecting a red light and gave the cops an attitude... NOT appreciated!! She was told to shut up and show some ID... then, a block down the road, two guys on bikes started fighting in the middle of the street – we couldn't quite catch what it was about, but the cops showed up there, too, and sorted things out. Saturday night fever!!

We had planned to go to this “all you can eat” sushi place on 32nd St, got in a cab and went, but they stopped serving at 10p.m SHARP!! No, they actually CLOSED! On a Saturday night!! In New York!! Weird.. So we went towards Broadway and Times Square and found Frankie and Johnnie's Steak house, a well-know place with a good reputation. We got T-bone steaks and the meat was excellent!! It was a bit pricey, but it was worth it! And we sat next to Tyne Daly – my favorite actress from "Cagney & Lacey" and "Judge Amy" – and she was on the “Gipsy” poster over our heads!!
Very nice place, but my God, the waiters must have been there for a life time – they were really old and tired!! But it was just funny...
